The building and its reputation
The structure on Dominican Hill was built as a religious retreat house, was used during the Second World War, and later operated as the Diplomat Hotel before being abandoned. It now stands as a heritage park, open to visitors during the day.
Its haunted reputation is the densest of any building in Baguio: accounts of voices in the corridors, figures in the empty upper floors, and sounds from the roofless wings. Those are reputations reported by visitors, not verified events, and we do not treat them as documented.
Why Baguio buildings carry this
Baguio sits at altitude in pine forest and spends much of the year inside cloud. Corridors hold mist, headlights stop being useful at short range, and sound moves oddly between pine trunks. The city was also devastated in 1945, and several of its best-known buildings predate that.
