About Philippines Top Horror Stories

Three kinds of story, and each one is labelled on its own page. Folklore-inspired fiction is built directly on a documented Filipino belief — the balete tree, the kapre, the manananggal. Urban-legend retellings take a story Filipinos have traded for generations and write it out properly. Original horror fiction has no folklore source at all; it works on setting alone.

Alongside the stories there is a folklore reference section. Those pages are not fiction — they set out what each belief actually holds, where it is recorded most strongly, and what the traditional defences against it are.

Nothing on this site is presented as a verified true event. We do not write "based on a real account" over invented material, we do not attach real names or addresses to fiction, and we do not describe a place as haunted as though that were established fact.

When a legend's origin is unknown — which is the case for the White Lady, and for Maria Labo — we say it is unknown. When a story mentions a real location, the page states plainly that the specific house, hotel or road in it is invented.

Each story is researched against recorded Philippine folklore, written, then narrated in Tagalog. The visuals are cinematic AI-generated imagery, composed to match the setting of each story rather than assembled from stock footage.

The narrated versions are published on our Facebook page and YouTube channel. Videos live on those platforms — this site frames and links them rather than hosting them.

Philippine folk belief is not a single tradition. It is hundreds of local ones that overlap and contradict each other, and a great deal of it was only ever transmitted by being told out loud. Writing it down carefully — including the parts that are unresolved — is part of the point of doing this.
