Junjun — The Call Center Ghost

In the version told across Philippine business process outsourcing floors, Junjun was the young son of an agent who brought him to work during an office event. Children were not allowed on production floors, so he was left in the lobby. He wandered off, got into a lift, and died there.

What makes the story distinctive is the maintenance. Agents pass it to new hires on their first graveyard shift, and it accumulates rules: which lift not to take alone, which floor button not to press, what it means when a headset picks up a child's voice on a dead line.

A BPO floor at three in the morning is one of the few Philippine workplaces that is fully lit, fully staffed and completely sealed off from the outside. Staff are awake against their body clocks, watching the same rows of monitors, in a building where the lifts and corridors are empty but the room is not.

That is a very efficient setting for a ghost story, and it explains why the legend is durable without ever being verified. No incident matching it has been documented, and no building has been credibly identified.
